Draft Information

Draft Order

Draft order is determined the same way as in the NFL:
  1. Superbowl champion picks last.
  2. Superbowl loser picks second to last.
  3. All others picks in reverse order of regular season rank

Draft Format

  • 2008+ season: Draft is composed of two phases:
    • Rounds 1-3: Franchise Player keeper rounds. During rounds 1-3, owners are allowed to keep up to three franchise players (FP) from the previous season. For each player kept, the owner sacrifices a draft pick from round 1, 2, and 3 respectively. The keeper rounds are unsnaked.
    • Rounds 4-15: Standard draft: Beginning in round 4, a standard draft is performed from the pool of unkept players. Format follows a serpentine, snake style draft. In the last (15th) round, an owner has the the option to keep a developmental player (DP) in lieu of his 15th pick.
  • 2007 season: Draft follows a 15 round serpentine, snake style draft. Order was determined randomly by Flea Flicker.

Keepers

Franchise Players (FP)

Each team is allowed to keep up to three franchise players on their roster for the next season. Keeping a player will result in sacrificing a team's 1st - 3rd draft picks. For example, a team which decides to keep two players will sacrifice draft rounds 1 and 2, but will be allowed to draft a player during the third round. If no players are kept, the team retains all three of his 1st, 2nd, 3rd round draft picks.

Developmental Player (DP)

A team is also allowed to designate one developmental player (DP) to be kept. Keeping a developmental player results in sacrificing a draft pick in the last round. A player is eligible as a DP if he meets the following criteria:
  1. Has two years or less experience in the NFL (a player just entering his third year in the NFL is eligible as a DP).
  2. Started on a fantasy roster no more than three times in the previous Master Bakers season, including playoffs.

Trades

During the regular season, all trades must occur before Week 12. Trades undergo a 24 hour review period and may be vetoed with 5 total votes from owners not involved with the trade. During the off season, trades may be conducted throughout.

Trading Draft Picks

The first three rounds of the draft are dedicated FP keeper rounds. Because of the freedom to keep a variable amount of FP's, it is not possible to determine if an owner will actually own a round 1-3 pick until very close to the draft. Therefore, these picks will not be allowed to be traded. Owners should think of the fourth round of the draft as the start of the "real" draft. Any trade involving a round 1-3 draft pick will be vetoed by the commissioner.

Free Agents, Waivers

Waivers

Each Tuesday following the outcome of the games, waiver order is recalculated using the reverse order of the current season's standings.

Waiver claims must be submitted by Thursday (2:00am), after which processing occurs and all remaining players are released to Free Agency on Thursday (5:00am).

Administration

Rule Changes

2011 Season

Divisions

  • Re-aligned divisions such that there are 3 divisions of 4 instead of 2 divisions of 6. The main reason for this, is because in the current setup, we play everyone in our division twice, but don't play all six teams in the other division. By having three divisions, we'll get to play every other team in our division twice (6 games) + every team in the other two divisions at least once (8 games). Secondly, currently having only 2 divisions, leaves the possibility of very unbalanced playoff seeding (i.e. one division sending 4 teams, the other division sending only 2). This happened in the 2009 season where Chris kinda got screwed out of the playoffs. With three divisions, there will be three division winners who make into the playoffs, and three wildcards.

Payouts

  • Weekly fantasy point leader decreased to $8 from $10
  • Added weekly payouts for playoff games
  • Regular season fantasy points leader payout increased to $52 instad of $50.

2008 Season

Payouts

  • Buy-in increased to $30 from $25
  • Removal of 3rd place payout.
  • Seasonal fantasy point leader awarded $50.
  • Weekly fantasy point leader awarded $10.

Rosters

  • Added one injured reserve slot.

Keeper/Draft

  • Draft/keeper rule changes to 2008 season are described in detail in the Draft Format section. In short:
    • Rounds 1-3 are dedicated optional FP keeper rounds and are unsnaked.
    • Rounds 4-15 follow standard snaked, draft format.

Waivers

  • Waiver processing was moved back one day to Thursday (2:00am) instead of Wednesday (2:00am) to allow more time to determine status of player's injuries (especially with MNF games)

Scoring

  • Team sacks reduced to 1 point from 2.
  • Blocked FG/PAT/Punts awarded 2 points instead of 0.
  • Solo tackles from QB/RB/WE/TE reduced to 0 points from 1.
