Can we make the trophy optional? I'd rather just have the $15 instead of some trophy...

No, the trophy is mandatory. A trophy would mean nothing if championship winners selectively decided to have/not have a trophy from year to year. It would be like the champion buying himself a trophy when he won, which is pretty lame.
